Acupuncture, effective and painless

Acupuncture is the most widely used method in traditional Chinese medicine.

It consists in the insertion and manipulation of fine needles at specific points of the body, in order to regularize vital energy (氣 qì) which circulates in the human body.

Acupuncture works on the points located on the meridians (經 jīng) and their ramifications which are called "collaterals" (絡 luò). When Qì circulates well, the body is in good functional condition, it allows you to have clear ideas and good physical vitality. On the contrary, if the circulation is not fluid, it can be felt by fatigue, a feeling of heaviness, discomfort or diseases.

FAQ

Does acupuncture hurt?

How many sessions does it take to obtain results?

The number of acupuncture sessions required depends on the condition treated. However, acupuncture stimulates the body's self-repair process, so it takes a little time to start obtaining convincing results. In many cases, in two months, the body has time to do the work and also to record the new situation of well-being to prevent relapses. This is why at Biomed MTC, we recommend having regular follow-up. A good way is, once you have come out of the treatment period, is to carry out one session per month to keep the effects over time.

Why choose acupuncture instead of another therapy?

Acupuncture is the only method that goes under the epidermis and thus causes deep changes. Depending on the case, the therapist can advise massages, electro-acupuncture and other methods adapted to the patient's needs. If you already follow a treatment with a physiotherapist or an osteopath then it is a multi-therapy treatment with acupuncture, which will also be very effective. Acupuncture is not incompatible with other treatments. On the contrary, its true strength is to be the main treatment but also to multiply the effects of other therapies.

Are hygiene conditions respected?

In our clinic, all the needles are individually packed. They are sterile, for single use and are in plastic tubes. The acupuncturist cannot therefore touch the needle until insertion into the skin. Before the insertion of the needle, the skin is sterilized with alcohol and a cotton is applied when the needles are removed. In order for the whole hygiene cycle to be guaranteed, a specialized company comes to pick up used needles every month in a closed container for safe disposal and recycling for other uses.

From what age can acupuncture can be performed?

Encore une fois, cela dépend des acupuncteurs et des thérapeutes. Même si l’acupuncture n’est pas douloureuse, dans notre clinique, on ne pique pas avant 4, voire 5 ans.

Is acupuncture reimbursed?

Yes, acupuncture is reimbursed by all supplementary insurance providers provided that the therapists are approved by ASCA and RME. At Biomed MTC, all our therapists are ASCA and RME approved and some are also approved by Visana and have the federal diploma in naturopathy. They completed 3 training cycles totaling more than 2400 hours and several years of clinical training.

Promotion of a session

An acupuncture session takes place in 4 steps:

1 anamnesis

The session begins with an anamnesis. This consists of a discussion with the patient to establish a diagnosis. The acupuncturist seeks to better understand the patient's history to better know how to treat him.

2 Ponture

The patient is installed in an individual treatment part with a heating lamp. The therapist switches to the Ponture (installation of needles on specific points).

3 rest

The patient rests for 30 minutes. Assistants monitor time and remove the needles when the time has come.

4 End of session

The patient rehydrates with a herbal tea offered at the end of the session. He tries to implement the advice provided and an assessment is made the following week, which gives the opportunity to put the needles again.
